Obituary

Deborah Kaye Robison was born on July 17, 1954 in Abilene, Texas and she passed away on October 7, 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Debbie was born to W. F. and Edith Decker.

Debbie earned a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Texas in Austin and was certified in English as a Second Language (ESL). She retired in 2019 after 20 years of teaching English in the adult education program for the Nevada State Prison system. While there, she taught those who were working on their GED certificates and their high school diplomas. She also taught those who could not read or write English, or were not proficient in it. This was the happiest and most fulfilling work she had ever done, and she felt so proud of it. It was an accomplishment where she made the lives of others better and made them feel good about themselves.

Debbie received Teacher of the Year for Adult Education in the state of Nevada. She also authored the "Street Readiness Program", which was used in the local school and was adopted in many schools across the state. She was a mother hen to all of her students at the prison and there was always a waiting list for her class. She made each one of her students feel special in some way and could get through to even the toughest ones. A very special gift to say the least! Her students loved and respected her. Debbie's retirement was an absence from the school with a rippling effect, such that her peers said they have not been able to replace her. She was truly loved by all who knew her.

Debbie's hobbies were reading, painting, and floral design. She loved to travel, and especially enjoyed San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, the California coast, and National Parks. She also loved dogs and cats.
Debbie was a member of South Tulsa Baptist Church.

Debbie was predeceased by her parents, W. F. Decker and Edith Decker. She is survived by her husband, Gary Robison; brother and his wife, John and Dana Decker; niece and her husband, Keri and Derek Burroughs; great niece and great nephews, Saylor Burroughs and Brock Burroughs, Nicolas Clayton; sister-in-law, Brenda Clayton; nephews, Anthony Clayton, Eric and wife Jennifer Clayton, and Allen Clayton.
