Obituary

Denny W. West, 83, died Friday. He was born in St. John Hospital, Tulsa, June 10, 1927 to Denzil and Irene West. He graduated from Broken Arrow High School, Class of 1945 and was drafted into the Army, serving in the Aleutian Islands until discharged in 1947 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He attended the University of Oklahoma and received a degree in business administration from the University of Tulsa, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. In 1952 he began working for Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Peoria, IL. He married Barbara Connors on June 12, 1954. While working for Cat he was transferred to Richmond, VA and Charleston, WVA. In 1963 he went to work for Albert and Harlow, Caterpillar dealer in Tulsa. In 1967 he started West Equipment Co., John Deere construction equipment sales. He retired in 1980. He was an avid follower of OU and TU football and basketball all his life. He was preceded in death by parents; and brother, Dick. He is survived by: his wife, Barbara; and children, Randal and Lisa West, Richmond, VA, Lynn and Rick McNabb, St. Paul, MN, Susan Hull, Denver, CO, James and Jane West, Stillwater, and Richard and Kathryn West, Tulsa; grandchildren, Zach, Katie, Brandon, Olivia West, Megan Huser, Whitney Nielsen, Haley and Lea McNabb, Taylor Hull, Emily, Sarah L., Michael West, and Sarah A. and John West; great-granddaughter, Grace Huser; and mother-in-law, Bernice Connors. The family will greet friends Tuesday September 28 from 1 pm to 3 pm at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 3621 E. 91st St. By his request no services will be held. The family suggests that friends contribute to the American Cancer Society or Evergreen Hospice.
