Donald R. Jones passed away Sunday May 1, 2016, in Broken Arrow, at the age of 84. Don was born September 1, 1931 in Ada,OK to Charlie and Winnie (Barton) Jones. He graduated from Ada high school and attended East Central State University. Don joined the U.S. Army in February 1951. He served as a paratrooper during the Korean War. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Silver Star and other various awards for acts of courage and heroism. In 1954, after returning to Ada from Korea Don married Gramilla Hall and together they reared four boys Clay, Mark, Vince and Greg. Don worked as a supervisor for Martin Marietta cement plant until his retirement. Donald was an avid golfer and skier he and Gramilla loved to travel. They took many wonderful trips throughout the United States and abroad during their 62 years of marriage. Donald is survived by his wife Gramilla; his sons Mark (D'Ann); Vince, and Greg. He is also survived by his two brothers Jim (Sherry) and Gary (Carol) and sister Charlene. Don's surviving family also included 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Don is proceeded in death by his parents and his son, Clay. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Indian Springs Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
