Donald Lee Kee died March 6, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. He was born November 23, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Wanda Parker Kee and Thomas Edison Kee. As a young boy his family moved to Carthage, MO and Donald was educated there. Donald enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany after World War II for 9 years.
The Kee family moved back to Tulsa and his father operated a cleaning business in the Whittier Square area. After his discharge from the Army Donald worked alongside his father in the family business and took it over after his father's death until the business closed. He worked for Unit Rig & Equipment Company as a mechanic until his retirement.
He married Cecilia Caroline Hein in 1967 and they remained lifelong companions until her death in 2010. Don possessed a sharp wit and keen mind with a great sense of humor. He was a devoted member of St. Catherine Catholic Church and a 60 year member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as their treasurer for many years. Don and "Ceil" traveled by motor home throughout the US and shared a lifelong love of seeing their beloved country.
Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Wayman Kee and wife Norma Margaret Kee. He is survived by sister-in-law Suzane Virginia Kee of Tulsa, numerous nieces and nephews including: Patricia Hein, Rebecca (David) Amason of Tulsa, Susan (Walter) Edinger of Perrysburg, Ohio. Nephew John (Gayla) Hein of Broken Arrow, James Robert (Lea) Kee of San Antonio, and Mark Thomas Kee of Houston. Also Don's dear friends Dan Holmes and Jerry Johns of Tulsa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 4532 S. 25th West Ave, in Tulsa under the direction of Fitzgerald Funeral Service. A graveside service at Fullerton Cemetery in Carthage, MO will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tuition Assistance of St. Catherine School or to St. Catherine Church Building Fund in Don's memory.
