Donald Myron Mann, born June 6, 1923, passed away in his sleep on June 14, after 91 years. He was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Harry and Jeanette Mann. He worked for the family business, OTASCO, and retired as Vice President. He continued throughout his life to enjoy "Old-Timers" get-togethers with other former OTASCO employees.
Don is survived by his wife Sallye, his son Tommy, his daughters Arleen Bernert (Martin) and Cathey Gordon (Hal). All his grandchildren, and their spouses too, have special memories of Don: Libby/B (Andryn), Abby (James), Alan, Brady, Brian, Barrie (Jared), and Audrey. Don was also privileged to meet 2 of his 3 great grandchildren, Max and Ellie, and to have seen pictures of his third, Emery. Don is also survived by his sister, Wilma Friedman (Howard), who was as much a friend as family. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Brongie; and by his sister, Vera Morse, and her husband Jack.
Don will be remembered as a simple man who loved fishing, doing odd-jobs around the house and yard, and for doing them expertly. He was a proud OU graduate, and a decorated Marine, having seen combat in the Pacific during World War II. But most of all, Don will be remembered as a man for his family, and as an unforgettable personality, to all he met.
Contributions in Don's memory may be made to the Tulsa Jewish Retirement and Health Center, or a charity of your choice.
Services were held at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, June 16, 2014, at 3:30 p.m.
