Obituary

Donald Wayne McDonald, son of the late Oscar Odell and Margaret Alice Crabtree McDonald, was born January 21, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He passed away October 22, 2012, at Clarehouse in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 64 years 9 months and 1 day.
In second grade, Don moved from Tulsa to Sperry. He graduated from Sperry High School in 1966. After high school, Don attended Northeastern State College for two years after which he joined the United States Navy and served his country from 1968-1972. The Navy trained him as an air traffic controller. He was stationed on Guam for most of his time but spent his last 6 months on Coronado Island in San Diego. On June 3, 1972, he married his high school sweetheart, Judy Martin, and they spent his last 6 months in the Navy as newlyweds in San Diego. After his discharge, he and Judy moved back to Tulsa where he earned a degree in accounting from the University of Tulsa.
He worked for 35 years as a cost accountant for various oil and gas companies in the Tulsa area. At the time of his death, he was employed at Braden Manufacturing.
Don was treasurer of the Tulsa Blues Society. He loved music of all kinds and had a vast knowledge of the music industry. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and two grandkids.
Don accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at First Baptist Church in Sperry when he was 7 years old. Don was wise, loyal, dependable, and kind. He was the rock of his family and always gave sound advice when asked. He had a calm demeanor and in his personal and business life he was known to be extremely level-headed, even-tempered and witty. Don was a strong man and will be greatly missed.
Don is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judy of Tulsa; one daughter, Rachel Smith and her husband, Jason of Tulsa; one son, Matt McDonald and his girlfriend, Lacey Thomas of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Larry McDonald and his wife Cheryl of Plains, Montana, and Billy McDonald and his wife Mona of Owasso; one sister, Becky Marshall and her husband Bill of Alva; two grandchildren, Colin and Emma Smith of Tulsa; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
