Dorothy Aileen "Missy" Haight, lifetime resident of Coffey County in Kansas, died Wednesday, February 13 in Tulsa, OK. She was 91 years old. Missy was born on April 18, 1921 in Waverly, Kansas. She was the daughter of Maggie Doherty Fanning and Bird Owen Fanning.
She was married to Frank Lawrence Haight and they were lifetime residents of Burlington, Kansas until they moved to Tulsa in 2006 to be closer to family.
Missy graduated from Burlington High in 1937 and worked as a secretary for Seymour Packing Company before marrying Frank on August 27, 1940. They had seven children. In later years she became the bookkeeper for the family business, Frank Haight Ford.
She was a devoted mother and took great joy in raising her seven children, as well as a few of the neighborhood kids who took up frequent 'residency' at the Haights. Missy loved to support her children's academic and athletic activities as well as bake, play bridge, golf, and cheer on the Kansas Jayhawks. She spent many years as an active leader in the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.
Missy was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 2006. She is survived by her seven children, Stephen, Las Vegas, NV; Philip, Santa Barbara, CA; Ann, Tulsa, OK; Janet, Santa Fe, NM; Susan, Larkspur, CA; Timothy, San Antonio, TX; Jon, Houston, TX; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation and Rosary will be held at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel in Tulsa on Wednesday, starting at 6 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am, Saturday, March 2 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Burlington, KS. Graveside services will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Burlington.
