Obituary

Eugene Paul McGraw was born May 19, 1935 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and passed into eternal rest February 22, 2017, at the age 82. His parents were Joseph R. McGraw, Sr. and Kathryn (Ittner) McGraw. He was one of seven children.

Paul attended Marquette Grade School and High School and then Benedictine Heights College. He served in the U.S. Army, where he won a M-1 Rifle Top Award. He worked for National Bank of Tulsa, the Tulsa Public School System, and McGraw Realtors.

Recently he was featured in the Tulsa World for his charitable work on behalf of pets and assistance of the homeless population of Tulsa.

Paul will be remembered for his sweet and kind smile, gentle nature, and his knowledge of his family history and Tulsa history. He was past president of the Tulsa Pioneer Association and served on the Tulsa Historical Society Board. He took loving care of his mother in her last days on earth. He was an avid antique collector. He was an artist starting with pencil drawing and graduating to oil painting, which was his great love.

He was predeceased by: his parents; his sister, Frances Bumgarner; his brothers, James J. and Patrick H. McGraw; his nephews, John J. McGraw and Curtis McGraw Grant. He is survived by: his brothers, Joseph R. (and wife Carol) and Michael A. (and wife Mary) McGraw; his sister, Therese McGraw Grant, of San Francisco; numerous nephews and nieces and their families; and Merylin Young, his longtime companion and friend.

Visitation will be Monday, February 27th, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 14th and South Boulder Avenue. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, February 28th, 10:30 a.m., at Christ the King Church, 16th and South Quincy. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
