Obituary

Earl Eugene "Arch" Dee passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, surrounded by family. Earl was born in St. Charles, Missouri on September 24, 1940 to Arch S. and Rosalia Dee. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, graduating from De La Salle High School. He furthered his education at Rockhurst College and St. Louis University, graduating in 1962 with a degree in electrical engineering.

After graduation, Earl began his career as a systems analyst, working in California and St. Louis before moving to Tulsa in 1968. He then started a 23-year career with Amoco, working the last five years in Houston, Texas. Upon retirement in 1992, Earl's goals were to master homegrown tomatoes and to fully explore the country music scene throughout the state of Texas.

Known as "The Tall Guy" by friends and colleagues, sports was a prevalent part of Earl's life. While in high school, he worked as the visiting team clubhouse boy for the Kansas City Athletics. He played on the St. Louis University basketball team as a senior. After moving to Tulsa, he coached countless youth basketball and baseball teams at Marquette Catholic School, and he coached the freshman boys basketball team at Bishop Kelley High School.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Don Dee, his former wife, Mary Jane Sullivan Dee, and many longtime friends.

He is survived by his four children: David Dee and his wife Sandra, of Tulsa, Beth Dee, of Tulsa, Kevin Dee and his wife Sarah, of Roeland Park, KS and Brian Dee and his wife Ronda, of Tulsa, seven grandchildren; Josh Vandruff, Connor Dee, Ryan Dee, Thomas Dee, Charlie Dee, Sullivan Dee, and Joseph Dee; his partner of 38 years, Alice Foister, and numerous extended family and friends.
