Obituary

Earl Tiffany Gerow, 63, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on August 1, 2026. He will be remembered above all as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with the people he loved.

Earl was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Alfred Gerow and Bridget Tiffany Gerow on March 18, 1963. He attended local schools until the fall of 1981 when he moved to Illinois to attend Principia College where he played soccer.

After college, Earl returned to Tulsa where he met the love of his life and best friend, Lisa Haugh Gerow. They were married in June of 1990. Together, they built a life centered on family and raised three children, Michael, Blake, and Caroline. Earl's children quickly became the most important people in his life, that is, until he had grandchildren.

Being a present and active father was never work for Earl as he found every way to involve himself in his family's lives. He coached sports teams, volunteered with Boy Scouts, and regularly traveled across the state and region for Caroline's gymnastics. As his kids grew up, Earl continued to show up week after week, not because he had to, but because he wanted to be part of every moment.

Family vacations were never negotiable. For 27 years, Earl traveled with his family to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. While Earl spoiled his family with food, shopping, and golf at Hilton Head, it was the large nightly family meals that meant the most to him. Additionally, Earl loved Disney World and amusement parks and regularly planned trips to explore the latest parks.

Earl was an avid golfer, teaching his sons the game and engaging in yearly competitions with his nephews at Hilton Head. He was a member of the Golf Club of Oklahoma and played with a close group of friends whenever time in his busy schedule would allow.

Second only to his family, Earl was a devoted Oklahoma Sooners sports fan. He regularly traveled to Norman during football season and loved that time with his wife, friends, children and grandchildren. Many of his favorite memories were traveling to away games and to OU v. Texas.

When Earl wasn't spending weekends out of the house with his family, he would often be found working on DIY projects around the house with Lisa. He was the kind of guy who could fix anything and loved when his kids called on him to help with projects of their own. Not only could he fix anything, but he could also grill anything. He loved watching cooking shows and feeding his family on the weekends. Earl leaves behind 5 grills that his family is determined to figure out.

Earl never took life too seriously and loved joking around. At times, Earl was animated and grumpy. This led to his grandpa name being "Grumpy." To the surprise of everyone, including probably himself, he was never actually grumpy towards his four grandchildren. Instead, he always approached them with patience, kindness, love, and candy. Being a grandfather became Earl's favorite activity, and the family is sad that this passion of his was cut short.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Bridget Gerow. He is survived by his wife, Lisa H. Gerow; his children Michael Gerow, Blake Gerow (Carley), and Caroline Zimmerman (Jack); and his grandchildren Theodore Zimmerman, Georgia Gerow, Harrison Zimmerman, and Palmer Gerow.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on August 18th at the Parish of Christ the King in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
