Obituary

Earl W. Yeagley, Jr. passed away on April 11, 2013, in Tulsa, OK, after a lengthy illness. He was born on August 4, 1922, near Lakeville, IN, to Earl Yeagley and Martha Mangun Yeagley.

After completing high school, Earl studied pre-law at Ball State University before serving as a pilot in the China-Burma-India theatre. He completed his undergraduate degree following WWII and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1949. He ran his own private law practice for several years before he joined Miles Laboratories as senior attorney; he was later promoted to general counsel, a position he held until his retirement.

Active in community affairs, Earl was a member of the Board of Directors of the South Bend Kiwanis Club, was director of Camp Milhouse, a camp for crippled children near South Bend, served as Information Officer for the Salk polio vaccine trials in St. Joseph Count and as president of the St. Joseph County Society for Crippled Children and the St. Joseph County Chapter of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. He also held the posts of county and South Bend City Chairman of the March of Dimes.

Earl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eileen (Walsh) Yeagley and his sister, Betty. He is survived by his brothers, Donald and Kenneth, and sisters: Barbara, Doris, Virginia and Linda; his son Laurence and wife, Lucia Palmer Yeagley of Tulsa, OK; daughter Jill and husband James Price of Albuquerque, NM; his 3 grandchildren: Todd Yeagley and wife, Nora O'Neill, Tristan and husband Travis McGill, and Jeremy Price; and his great-grandchildren: Tobin, Teagan and Trevin McGill, and Maeve and Cormac Yeagley.

Private family services were held in Tulsa.
