Obituary

Edward "Ed" Charles Apple, age 70, passed away at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Monday, August 12, 2019, after a lengthy illness. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by brother Harry Apple, sister Beverly Apple, nieces, nephews and close friends, who all loved him and will miss him dearly.

Ed was born on April 23, 1949, in Clearfield, Pennsylvania to Harold Charles and Cora Ellen (McCue) Apple and grew up in Curwensville, Pennsylvania. After graduating high school, Ed enlisted in the US Army and served in Military Intelligence in South Korea, Germany and Italy. Ed especially loved his time in Italy and learned the art of woodcarving while he was there. He brought back many beautiful statues that he would later carve copies of on his own. After his service in the Army, Ed went on to serve in the Air National Guard. After leaving active duty in the Army, Ed moved to Los Angeles, CA where he went to work for Rockwell International and later transferred to Tulsa, OK where he worked for Boeing and later Spirit. Ed earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Langston University.

Ed was an active and faithful member of First Presbyterian of Tulsa located downtown, for over 30 years and served as an Elder and a key member of the First Presbyterian Television Ministry. Ed was also a long-time blood and platelet donor to the American Red Cross and was honored for over 20 years of donations.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 11th at 1pm in the Kerr Chapel, at First Presbyterian Church, 709 S. Boston Ave, Tulsa OK 74119.
