Regretfully we announce the passing of legendary French teacher and C-team coach, Edgar Benarrous. Edgar was born in Taza, Morocco, April 29, 1940. He came to the U.S. "for one year to see the country" in 1968, after marrying the love of his life in Morocco in 1966. He and Judy ne Taylor were married 58 years minus 10 days.
He loved sports; was a runner (the first 15 Tulsa Runs and was training for number 16 when he was hit by a car), cyclist, swimmer and tennis player. His 26 years of teaching at Holland Hall and TCC touched the lives of hundreds of students and members of the community.
He was fascinated by language and words, loved dreadful puns and travel.
He leaves behind his wife, Judy; their two sons and beloved daughters-in-law, David (Julie) and Marc (Bonnie); and adored grandchildren, Harmonie Eakes (Andy), Elie Benarrous, Renner Barton, and Jude Benarrous.
The family wishes to gratefully thank Sarah O'Brien of AVow Hospice.
Services will be held Monday, December 16, 2024, 11 am, at Temple Israel, 2204 E 22nd Place, Tulsa.
