Edgar 'Ed" Wayne Cathcart, 83, passed away on May 29 after an extended illness.

Ed is survived by his bride of 57 years, Marie Eloise Boudreaux Cathcart and 3 daughters: Ruth Marie Cathcart; Jean Anne Cathcart Helvey and husband Scott Helvey; and Margaret Michelle Cathcart Kasprzak; along with his two sisters, Norma Jean "Sis" Campbell and Francis Cramton and husband Earl Cramton. Ed was blessed with three grandchildren: Amber Suzanne Helvey and husband Jeremiah Clark; Caroline Helvey; and Brandon Helvey.

Ed was preceded in death by his mother and father, Otis and Mabel Cathcart and son-in-law Rick Kasprzak.

Ed retired from American Airlines with 39 years of service as a mechanic. He also served in the Air Force and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4721.

Ed always found peace in the outdoors and he will be missed by all those who benefitted from his hobby of picking and shelling pecans.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 2nd, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, with a rosary to follow at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday June 3rd at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 1419 North 67th East Avenue. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 91st and Harvard.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross to benefit the victims of the Joplin tornados.
