Edward A. Van Schaik, loving husband, Father and Grandfather, passed from this life on June 16, 2014.  He was born one of six brothers to Peter and Helen Van Schaik on August 21, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio.  Edward graduated from Wilbur Wright High School. He continued his education at Kettering University in Flint, Michigan majoring in Thermodynamics receiving his degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Edward was employed at General Motors prior to joining IBM, where he spent more than 27 years until his retirement as Senior Systems Engineer.  Immediately following 'retirement' from IBM, Edward began his second career as owner of a consulting/programming company, which he continued to be active until his death.  As a published author, innovator, and teacher in his field, his legacy will go for generations as the Grandfather of Information Systems Management.

Edward enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing Bridge, and traveling; but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Edward is survived by his wife of 38 years, Martha Van Schaik, a brother, Larry Van Schaik, his seven children Edward Van Schaik, Sonna Breckenridge, Richard Van Schaik and wife Suzanne, Linda Jaramillo and husband Joe, David McCoy, Doug McCoy and wife Jo, Julie Fholer as well as twelve Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild.  Edward will be missed by family, friends, and many others who cared deeply for him.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at Calvary Cemetery Chapel in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
