Edwin Willis Cox Jr., age 76, passed away on January 23, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on January 9, 1949, in Orange County, California, to Edwin Willis Cox Sr. and Doris "Ann" Cox. Ed graduated from Camdenton High School in Camdenton, Missouri, as part of the class of 1967. On June 16, 1969, he enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably as a helicopter pilot with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War, completing his service on January 29, 1971.
On December 24, 1983, Ed married Rosemarie Cox in Lake Arrowhead, California. The couple purchased their first home in the San Fernando Valley before relocating to Diamond Bar, California, to be closer to family and business. In 1983, Ed co-founded United Park Services, a company specializing in cemetery landscaping and related services.
In 1992, Ed moved from Diamond Bar, California, to Scottsdale, Arizona. He owned and operated the Hitching Post Car Wash and Detail until 1999. From 2001 to 2008, he ran a home appraisal company serving the Phoenix metro area. Ed and Rosemarie divorced in 2002.
Ed had a deep love for the outdoors and was often found fishing or spending time at the lake with family, friends, and nephews, delighting everyone with boating adventures. In his prime, he was an avid golfer, always eager for a round after work or on the weekends. Ed took great pride in watching his sons' baseball games and enjoyed helping them perfect their swings. Above all, he will be remembered for his generous heart and the warmth he brought to every conversation. Whether sharing a cold beer or simply enjoying good company, Ed had a unique way of making everyone feel welcome, valued and was loved by all.
Ed is survived by his mother, Ann Cox; his sisters, Louise Reilly and Nancy Kanter; his brother, Bart Cox; his sons, Christopher Cox (Kathryn Cox), Brian Cox (Karla Cox), and Michael Tovar (Maribel Tovar); his five grandchildren Leona Cox, Edward Cox, Louis Cox, Marilyn Cox, Marcus Bagasin; and his long-time girlfriend, Kelly Sekan.
A funeral service for Ed Cox is scheduled for Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, located at 3612 E. 91st St., Tulsa, OK 74137. Flowers and memorial donations may be sent to the same address.
