Obituary

Was born January 25, 1920 to Marguerite Rines and Laurence Francis Rooney in Muskogee, OK.

She was an avid patron of the Arts serving as a Trustee for: the Tulsa Opera, Philbrook Museum of Art and the Tulsa Performing Arts Center Trust Authority. She was a member of the Ruskin Art Club, the Philbrook Masters Society, Southern Hills Country Club, the Sewing Club; and The Mountain Oyster Club in Tucson, AZ. In her early years she was active on the St. John Hospital Auxiliary Board.

As a Regent of Kenmore Museum in Fredericksburg, VA since 1973 she served on several committees and later on George Washington's Fredericksburg Foundation.

She was a past member of the Oklahoma Heritage Association Board and a lifetime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

A graduate of Georgetown Visitation Junior College in Washington, D.C., she then attended the University of Oklahoma where she became a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and Rosemont college in Rosemont, PA.

She is survived by her husband James M. Hewgley, Jr. They married in 1967 while he served as Mayor of Tulsa. She is also survived by Her three children: Mary Warren Bashaw, Joan Warren Yoakam and her husband Coler, of Oklahoma City, and Thomas E. Warren III and his wife Lynn; and His three sons, James M. Hewgley III and his wife Anne, Robert W. Hewgley and his wife Bobette, of Austin, TX , and Fred C. Hewgley.

Her eleven Grandchildren are: Catharine Bashaw, Amy Bashaw Buchner, George F. Bashaw III, Anne Yoakam, Sarah Yoakam Burger, Coler A. Yoakam III, Paul F. Warren, Audra Hewgley Gallegos, Michele Hewgley Swierz, Abe Hewgley, and Travis Hewgley. She also has eleven Great Grandchildren.

She is also survived by Lucy Rooney, her sister-in- law. She is preceded in death by her brothers L.F.Rooney, Jr., John E. Rooney and former husband Thomas E. Warren, Jr.; also sisters- in- law Marjorie Rooney, Mary Liz Dunn and Margaret Singletary James.

A Rosary will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 12th at Cascia Hall St. Rita Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 13th, at Christ The King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends can honor her memory with contributions to Philbrook Museum of Art or the charity of their choice.
