Elbert Lynn Cox of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at the age of 90. Elbert was an affectionate husband to his wife Ginny and a devoted father and grandfather to his son Paul and wife Diane, and grandchildren Rachel, Randy and his Wife Samantha and his sons Parker and Jacob, and Jason, all of whom he is survived by.
Elbert was born on October 9, 1935, in Bixby, Oklahoma to Leonard and Gertrude Cox, and was the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1954 and subsequently spent four years in the United States Navy, where he served in Alaska and Japan. Following his service, he dedicated almost forty years to Oklahoma Natural Gas Company as a respected manager.
Elbert married his wife Ginny on March 31, 1962, and together they shared more than sixty years of marriage in a devoted and harmonious partnership. They established their home in midtown Tulsa in the early years of their relationship and resided in the same house for the remainder of their years together. Elbert and Ginny enjoyed traveling together in their trailer with a travel group and made many friends throughout their lives.
Elbert's warmth and kindness were felt instantly by all who met him. He possessed a reserved humility and a gentle, noble demeanor, and he is well-remembered for his rich sense of humor. Elbert was an ever-present mentor in the lives of his family, and leaves behind a legacy of guidance, wisdom, and support that will be eternally cherished.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Church of the Madalene in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
