Obituary

Eleanor Byrne Bova passed peacefully on May 21, 2019 surrounded by the love of her family. She now rests in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is reunited in Heaven with her loving husband, Peter Frank Bova, who preceded her in death in 1992.

Eleanor was born in St. Louis, MO where she met Peter and started their family. In a bold and courageous move, Eleanor and family relocated to Boulder, CO where Peter opened a convenience grocery store adjacent to the University of Colorado campus. "Bova's Pantry" remains a landmark business in Boulder to this day.

Following the death of her husband after 45 years of loving marriage, Eleanor relocated to Tucson, AZ where she spent many happy years. She returned to Houston in 2015 to be closer to her family.

Eleanor, known to her family and friends as "Meme", had a bubbly and engaging personality. Blessed with the gift of gab, she was proud of her Irish heritage. She enjoyed sipping a glass of champagne and was the life of the party. Meme will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Eleanor is survived by: daughter, Diane (James) Davis; daughter. Debbie (Curtis) Edwards; and son, Denis (Denise) Bova. Her extended family includes six grandchildren and eleven greatgrandchildren, who were the lights of her life.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the kind and loving caregivers and staff at St. Dominic's Village Catholic Community in Houston where she lived for the past 18 months.

Visitation will be from 5 pm until the 6:30 pm Holy Rosary on Tuesday, May 28 at the Church of St. Mary, in Tulsa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, May 29, at Church of St. Mary, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.

Please remember Eleanor with memorial donations to: St. Dominic Village Catholic Community, 2401 Holcombe Blvd.,  Houston, TX   77021.
