Elizabeth (Betty) Borochoff, 92, was born on December 5, 1921 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, to George and Susie Steve, who were immigrants from Czechoslovakia. She passed away peacefully on January 29, 2014, after a long illness. Betty was often called Little Betty, and was the next to youngest of 12 children. Raised on a farm in Smithfield, Pennsylvania, Betty knew the meaning of hard work and carried that with her through her adult life.
She moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she met and married Jack E. Borochoff in the early 1940's. They moved to Tulsa soon thereafter where they raised two boys, Steve and Doug. Betty also has three grandchildren, Jacob, Lauren and Brittany. She loved to be around her grandchildren and her daughter-in-law, Kathy, and they all had wonderful times together.
Betty worked as a ticket agent for TWA and as a travel agent for AAA Travel. She loved her work and continued working into her 70's. Betty always had a wonderful smile, and bright spirit. She enjoyed her polka music and loved to sing and dance. She started square dancing in her 70's and often went on Saturday nights with her very close friend, Junior Green. Her favorite songs were "You are my Sunshine" and "Red River Valley" which she often sang to her children and grandchildren.
Lastly, Betty was a free spirit. She wanted to get up and just go, and do things; and she did. She traveled the world with her husband, Jack, and led overseas tour groups with AAA, sang, went to dances, and just enjoyed being with people.
Betty, we will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1989, and many of her brothers and sisters. Betty is survived by her sons, Steve Borochoff, from Austin; Doug Borochoff of Tulsa; and daughter-in-law Kathy, and her three grandchildren, Jake, Lauren and Brittany, and many cousins.
