Elizabeth "Betty" J. Ammann, 87, of Tulsa, OK passed away peacefully on March 21, 2015. Betty was born November 20, 1927, in Okmulgee, OK, the oldest of four children of Earl and Faye Butler. Betty attended St. Anthony Catholic School in Okmulgee and graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1945. She attended Our Lady of the Lake University, in San Antonio, TX, and the University of Oklahoma studying Business/Accounting. Betty married Charles B. Ammann on June 18, 1949 and they had five children together.
Betty's employment began in 1969 in Tulsa with Chandler-Mann Builders as an executive secretary. In 1979 she moved to Mid-States Pipe and Supply Company in the same role, in 1982 to LOGO, Inc., and in 1987 to S&W Energy, Inc. In 1988 Betty found her true passion when she went to work for the Chancery Office of the Catholic Diocese of Tulsa as Insurance Secretary. She enjoyed a 25 year career working with the Priests of the Diocese and serving on the Priest Retirement Board until she retired in 2013.
Betty was a member of St Pius X Catholic Church in Tulsa, OK for over 60 years and enjoyed music, ballet, travel and the University of Notre Dame and Oklahoma University football.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Faye Butler, her brother Earl Butler and his wife Patricia, her brother James Butler, and her dear friend in later life, Gene Blackwell. She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Butler and his wife, Redeena of Okmulgee, OK and her sister-in-law Shirley Butler of Katy, TX. She is also survived by her daughter Vickie McGinnis and her husband Mike, of Dallas, TX, her son Charles B. Ammann and his wife Carrie of Calabasas, CA, her daughter Julie Cobb and her husband Robert of Edmond, OK, her daughter Rebecca Weeks and her husband Bill of Tulsa, OK, her daughter Mandy Atkins and her husband Blake of Tulsa, OK, five grandchildren, Lindsay and Stuart Cobb, Price, Audrey and Emma Atkins, and numerous nieces and nephews and their respective children.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Funeral Home, 3612 East 91st St, Tulsa, OK 74137. A Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. and a Funeral Mass on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., both at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1727 South 75th E. Ave., Tulsa, OK 74112.
