Emelia Moss, a much beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2016. She was 91 years old.
Emelia was born on November 23, 1924 to Italian immigrant parents in Keyser, WV where she was raised. She was the youngest of seven children. After completing nursing training, she joined the United States Air Force as a lieutenant. During her service she met and married her loving husband, of 45 years, James Cash Moss.
In 1965, after Jim retired from the Air Force, they settled in Tulsa, OK where they made their home and raised their family of five children. Emelia's true calling was being a mom. She was a strong woman of faith and impressed her Catholic values on her children.
Her nursing career was important to her, and she worked for the American Red Cross and The Tulsa Health Department for several years. She did this while assisting in the startup of the successful family business, Tulsa Gamma Ray. Always wanting to help and stay busy in her later years, she volunteered with the RSVP at The Tulsa Airport as an Airport Ambassador.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Moss. She is survived by her children, Pete Moss (Susan) of Tulsa, Mary Winans of Arlington, TX, Elizabeth Nutt (Cliff) of Tulsa, Alison Wilkinson (Phil) of Coppell, TX and Matt Moss of Tulsa; as well as her ten grandchildren: Rhiannon, Tony, Kira, Michael, Elizabeth, Alison, Emily, Shannon, Jacob and Jack. Plus, numerous nieces and nephews that adored her.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Autumn Leaves of Tulsa for their loving and attentive care of Emelia during her final years, along with the staff of Grace Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 2448 E. 81st St., Suite 3000, 74137, or Grace Hospice, P.O. Box 33234, Tulsa, OK, 74135.
