Erik C. Erwin, 76, of Tulsa, passed from this life on Thursday, November 22, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel.
Erik was born on April 4, 1942, in Hot Springs, Arkansas; the son of Charles and Maxine (Custer) Erwin. He grew up in the Houston area, graduating from Spring Branch High School in the class of 1960. He then continued his education at the University of Houston, and eventually obtained his doctorate degree in Optometry.
He proudly served in the Army and United States Air Force obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Through the years, Erik was an avid tennis player and fisherman. He also loved flying remote controlled planes and watching boxing and MMA fights. His greatest joys were his four young grandchildren.
Erik is survived by his wife of 34 years, Elizabeth Jean Erwin; two children, Amanda Norwood, and her husband Joe, and Matthew Erwin, and his wife, Staci; four grandchildren, Molly and Blake Erwin, and Lakeley and Landry Norwood, all of Tulsa; sisters, Maureen Robinson, of Arizona, Debbie Reynolds, of Texas, Ginger Erwin, of Florida, and Gretchen Anstead, of Nebraska; and numerous other extended family members, and friends.
Erik was preceded in death by his parents.
