Ernest Litle, born October 27, 1942 – died August 24, 2015; was a craftsman. A man of intense character. He grew up in Vinita, Okla., with his two siblings - older brother Larry and younger sister Judy. He was a determined and hard working youth who valued education, pursuing his degree in aeronautical engineering at Oklahoma State University. After college, his professional life was spent as a pilot, where he exceled in many positions with: The Department of Energy, the Federal Aviation Administration and later a foray into the private sector with United Airlines; he would retire 10 years later. Ernie could never stay still for too long and was more than happy to use his new found freedom to migrate to Oklahoma City where family and a part time position with the FAA were waiting. His family was especially grateful to have him nearby.
While Ernie loved to travel the world and share adventures with his close companion Doris, he truly enjoyed spending his time taking care of those dear to him. Crafting gifts, like his great grandson Cael's peddle-bike airplane; or helping his daughter Kimberly remodel her kitchen with exquisite cabinetry. He built something for everyone. For his six children, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Ernie crafted and honed pillars of wisdom, honesty, and self worth. Ernie always tried to make you better. These projects were never finished and they never will be. There will always be work to do: more sanding, a better shine, or just a routine buffing. We don't have him here to help anymore, but he was a fine instructor and the pillars he built within us are strong.
Which is good because, "criminetly y'all got a lot of work to do." – Ernest Litle.
Ernest was preceded in death by his dear wife Valerie Litle.
