Estelle Marie Harrington was born May 16, 1922 and passed away August 29, 2018 at age 96. Born in Martinez, California, Estelle graduated from Alhambra High School in 1940, then attended one year of business school in Berkley, California. In 1943, she and her sister Nita, joined the US Navy and served for the rest of World War II: she was very proud of being a veteran. In 1946, Estelle married Charles J. Harrington, and together they had eight children. She went to work as an executive secretary in the wholesale food business, from which she retired in 1987.
Her retirement hobbies included reading, cross stitching, doing crossword puzzles, and volunteering at the Church of St. Mary. In 2015, she was featured in the Tulsa World, in the "Serving Our Country" series, which profiled WW II veterans, remembering their service time.
Estelle was preceded in death by: her parents Cecil and Marie Flambard, sister Nisa, brothers Leo and John, and by her daughter Marie. She is survived by her children, Chuck Harrington and Anne Tarbel, Jim and Belinda Harrington, Kathy and Tom Olson, Paul Harrington, Drs. Perry and Anne Ward, Joan Caudle, Mary and Tom Kurzyna, 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and foster son, Rick Poe.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 4, 11 AM, at Church of St. Mary, and interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
