Ethan Gregory Lilly left his physical body on Sunday, February 7, 2021. He was 22 years old. He is survived and loved dearly by his parents, Scott and Lisa, his older brother Everett, his younger sister Rachel, and a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, his maternal grandfather, his cat Butters, and his gecko Momo. Born in Durham, North Carolina, Ethan moved to Tulsa when he was 18 months old. He attended Jenks Public Schools and Riverfield Country Day School. After graduation, he attended Kansas State University and Tulsa Welding School.
In his short life, he traveled to over 40 states, became SCUBA certified, hiked the Grand Canyon, hang-glided in Kitty Hawk, river-rafted in Montana, and fished in Wisconsin. Ethan was all-conference and captain of the varsity basketball team both his junior and senior years. He loved eating out with his siblings, talking sports with his dad, and playing chess with his mom. An avid reader, he studied economics, politics, and world religions for fun. Ethan served his community by coaching youth basketball, refereeing soccer, and most currently, volunteering each week at Street Cats. He was pursuing a career in secondary education.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel on Wednesday, February 17 at 2:00 p.m. It will also be available via live stream.
