Eugene B. Byrnes died April 25th, 2016. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on January 15th, 1927, to William E. and Mildred E. Byrnes. His family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1927 when his father, an architect, was sent here to work on the construction of the Philtower Building. He graduated from Marquette High School and also from the University of Tulsa with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics.

After working several years for oil related companies, he worked a total of 32 years for Atlantic Richfield Company in Dallas, Texas and a predecessor company Sinclair Oil and Gas in Tulsa. He was a Process Engineer and was involved in the design of natural gas processing facilities. He has fond memories of his work taking him to Montana and Prudhoe Bay Alaska as well as Southern California.

He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and it's Men's Club, volunteered at hospitals with Mended Hearts, and enjoyed the Hyechka Club and the Saint John Siegfried Health Club. He was a member of the Tulsa Running Club and won over 260 awards in his running career.

Most importantly, he was a dearly loved and important family member, as well as, a genuinely good man. Our lives are richer for having him in them.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister Mildred Byrnes Thoman. He is survived by: his brother-in-law, Wilfred Thoman; his nieces and nephews, Mary Anne Thoman, Timothy and Ronda Thoman, David and Christine Thoman, and Rebecca Thoman, all of Tulsa, and Gregory Thoman of Loveland, Colorado; and his great-nieces and -nephew, Arielle, Alex and Angela Thoman.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the St. Simeon's staff for their kind and compassionate care of our dear family member.
