Evelyn Lucille Schoonover, 92, of Tulsa, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017. Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, and Sunday from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. A Rosary will be held 6:00 PM on Sunday, and Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 20, 2017 both at Church of the Madalene, Tulsa. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Evelyn was born on September 1, 1924, in Liberal, Missouri, the daughter of Lawrence and Leona (Fry) Bozarth. She graduated from Central High School, in Oklahoma City in 1942. On January 12, 1945, she married Lyle L. Schoonover, the love of her life, also in Oklahoma City. Throughout their 61 years together as man and wife, they enjoyed square dancing, having been officers in the Cimarron Square Dancing Association. Evelyn was also a talented seamstress, who enjoyed making beautiful clothes for others, especially her children, and grandchildren. She also made the outfits that she and Lyle wore while they were square dancing. They had also been active parishioners at Our Lady Of The Lake Catholic Church, in Mannford, OK. In her spare time, she loved to garden, and spend time with her family.
She is survived by six children, Lyle Schoonover, and his wife, Debbi, of Tulsa, Pat Schoonover, and his wife, Gail, of Oklahoma City, Larry Schoonover, and his wife, Linda, of Tulsa, Barbara Flynt, and her husband, Mike, of Tulsa, Teresa Ferguson, and her husband, Billy, of Siloam Springs, AR, and Mike Schoonover, and his wife, Lynne, of Jenks, fourteen grandchildren, thirty six great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, brothers, Joe Bozarth, and his wife, Carolyn, of Conroe, TX, and Bob Bozarth, and his wife, Debbie, of Guthrie, OK, sisters, Mary Lorencz, of Gagetown, MI, and Mildred Cosper, of Oklahoma City, and numerous other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, in 2006, and one brother, Lawrence Bozarth.
