Florence Haubert was born on November 17, 1923 to Martha and Henry Haubert in Sapulpa Oklahoma. She graduated from Holy Family School and the Saint John's School of Nursing in Tulsa and worked as a nurse supervisor in Surgery at Saint John's Hospital.
She married Dr. James C. "Jim" Smith, Jr. in 1947. Their marriage lasted 40 years until his death in 1987. Florence passed peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2019.
Among the wonderful roles she rocked, were Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Hostess, Avid Gardener, World Traveler, and buyer of Girl Scout cookies, Boy Scout popcorn and Marquette trash bags.
She was also a tireless volunteer working with the Tulsa Philharmonic Society, Tulsa Opera Guild, Tulsa County Medical Auxiliary, Monte Cassino Parent Council, and Edison Booster Club. One of her proudest accomplishments was serving as the first Publicity Chair for the Designer's Showcase houses, a role she held for several years.
Florence was preceded in death by: her husband, Jim; her parents, Martha and Henry Haubert; siblings, Loretta Walsh, Paul Haubert, James Haubert, Mike Haubert, Mary Maggart and Helen Hand; and grandchildren, Adrienne and Joey Staley.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Smith Moser, Tulsa, James C Smith IV, Perkins OK, Barbarita Coulson (Nick), Salisbury England, Belinda Smith-Lyttle (David), Dunedin New Zealand and Liz Eccleston (Rick), Tulsa. She is also survived by: sisters, Kay McLaughlin and Milly Murphy, both of Tulsa; grandchildren, Brendan Smith (Lesley), Claire Combs (Josh), Matthew Coulson (Beth Stout), Meg Lyttle (Brad Meikle), Katherine Lyttle (Alex Sims), Matt Eccleston, and Brian Eccleston; and great grandsons, Oliver and Finnley Combs.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Hospice of Green Country, the staff at The Villages of Southern Hills Assisted Living, and My Choice In Home Senior Services, for their care in her final days.
Rosary at Christ the King Church on Wednesday, June 26, 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday June 27, 10 am.
