Obituary

Forrest William Camp, 59, of Tulsa passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014.
He was born in San Mateo, CA on September 24, 1954 to Elizabeth M. Camp and the late Forrest William Camp, Sr. Forrest graduated from Terra Nova High School and attended San Jose State University. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1973 and served honorably and proudly until July, 1994 when he retired from the U.S.S. Constellation as a Chief Petty Officer.
Forrest was a devoted, loving husband to his wife and beloved father and grandfather to his daughter and grandchildren. He loved people, old cars, jazz, sailing, books, model building, great conversation and spirituality. Forrest had a love of all creatures great and small. His big heart led many stray animals to seek shelter and find a home with him.
A devoted military man, he did several tours overseas spanning from Scotland to the Middle East. He was a true sailor and storyteller. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a dispatcher for 911 and then later opened Ella's Deli then Ella's Good Food with his beloved wife, Karen Camp. He touched many lives through all the work that he did and always saw the good in people. His final position was that of Associate to the recently retired Dr. Paul A. April who was so much more to him than his employer, they had become very dear friends. Forrest saw Dr. April as a Father figure and good friend, he loved him dearly. Forrest is fondly remembered for his bear hugs and magnetic, warm hearted personality.
Forrest is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Camp of Tulsa, their fur children Ella, Satchmo, Buford and Boobala, his daughter, Diama Norris and her husband, Matthew, and their daughter Eva and son Henry, his mother, Elizabeth M. Camp, all of Tulsa; his uncle, Fred Borgardt of Knoxville, TN and his aunt Margaret Loving of Sister Bay, WI; Mother-In-Law Mary J. Smith of Tulsa whom he considered his true second Mom. Brother and Sister-In-Laws Debbie and CD Richards Her son Tony Cooper and wife Jennifer along with their children Justice, Jeramiah, Zack, Courtney, Ciera and River of Tulsa, Brother and Sister-in-Law Ken and Gwen Mitchell of Tampa, Florida, Sister-in-Law Pamela Longueville and her children Danielle, Austin and Hayden of Prosper, Texas all whom he considered as his real true Brothers and Sisters, nieces, grand nieces, nephews and grand nephews
Predeceased by his Father and Hero, Forrest William Camp, Sr.

A memorial and life celebration service is set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. Reception to follow. Donations may be made to the SPCA in his honor, or to his favorite Church, Center of Light ( centeroflighttulsa.org ) in lieu of flowers.
