Obituary

Frances O. Cebuhar, 90, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017. She is best known for her role for 24 years as Public Information Director at Saint Francis Hospital. She worked directly for Sister Mary Blandine. She and her staff earned a number of national awards for the Hospital with their publications and projects. Visitation will be held at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, with a Rosary immediately following at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church.

She is survived by five children, Barbara Ann Lahey (Charlie), Fairfax, Virginia, Mary Frances West, Maitland, Florida, Phillip Cebuhar, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mark Cebuhar, (Cindy) Phoenix, Arizona and John Cebuhar, (Allison) Springdale, Arkansas. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and her three sisters: Irene Nielsen (Svend), Memphis, Tennessee, Betty Jo Hoff (Al), Overland Park, Kansas, and Mother Virginia Marie of the Carmelite Monastery in La Plata, Maryland. Frances was particularly fond of the Carmelite Monastery and their prayers have strengthened us all. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Stanley W. Cebuhar, siblings, Mary Maranoni, Eleanor Gibbons, and Bill "Bucky" O'Connor.

Frances attended Marquette, Monte Casino High School and graduated Cum Laude from Saint Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, Indiana with a BS in Biology. She returned to Tulsa to work for two years at Oklahoma Natural Gas before continuing her education at Georgetown Graduate school where she met and married, Lt. Colonel Stanley Cebuhar who was completing his doctorate in Economics.
Stanley was the Washington Military Representative for Douglas Aircraft in Washington D.C. and then the Assistant to Mr. Douglas in Los Angeles. Frances and Stanley returned to Tulsa from Los Angles when Stanley became the President of Century Geophysical. Stanley died in Madrid on November 19, 1993 while on vacation.
Frances was a member of the National Public Relations Society of America, Congressional Country Club, Bethesda, Maryland, on the Board of Directors with Up With Trees, Tulsa Garden Club and Delta Epislion Scholastic Society.
