Obituary

Frances (Frankie) Heck was called home by our Lord on Sunday, November 27, 2022 when her large and loving heart decided to rest. She left us to be rejoined with Paul, her husband, Jim, her son, and the rest of her family, who predeceased her.

Frankie was born in Keifer, OK, on September 1, 1925, to Rollie and Leota Griffin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marceline and two brothers Jack and Bill. She married the love of her life Paul Heck in 1946. Sadly, she was widowed when she was 54. She and Paul were blessed with 3 children: Paula (Johndrow), Teresa and Jim. Tragically, we lost Jim in 2017. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren: Amy Heck and Jonathan Johndrow, his wife Cami, and 3 great grandchildren, John, Brayden and Ashlyn.
Frankie spent most of her life in Tulsa, OK. She was a loving and outgoing lady who made friends easily. After Paul died, she joined the work force, working at Kraft Tours, instilling a love of travel. She went on numerous memorable trips in the States and abroad, including Ireland, France, Greece, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, and the Panama Canal. She also kept books for an attorney in town. Mostly, though, she was very involved in her church, first Madalene, then Resurrection. She volunteered for over 50 years, at St. Francis Hospital until she was in her 80's, delivered Meals on Wheels (also into her 80's!), helped assemble back packs for the Food Bank's weekend meal programs, rocked preemie babies at St. Francis, worked the polls, and knitted caps for the homeless (achieving her goal of at least 30/year through 2021). She was a lady who liked to stay busy.

She moved to Texas in 2013 to be closer to her children. She was involved with her senior apartment complex activities committee. Almost everyone in the complex seemed to know her; and, always had kind things to say about what a special and wonderful lady she was. She was fortunate to have several close and dear friends living in the complex with her. In her final days she loved to be outside in the fresh air, especially to watch the sunset in the evenings.

She had a wonderful doctor, board certified in geriatrics, who told her she had a new term for her patients like Frankie: Antiques. She chose this term because they are rare, often fragile, always special and treasured.
The family also wants to thank Kim Teschendorf for her devotion to Mom in her final years; and, the help she gave us, often with almost no prior notice. And, to AlevCare Hospice, whose nurses and aides took such compassionate and complete care of Mom in the final weeks of her live.

The family requests that any commemorations be made to one of Mom's favorite charities:
