Obituary

Frances Pace died peacefully in her home with her family on Saturday December 22, 2018. Born Frances Ann Ziegler in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 18, 1939 to Julia Naughton and Frank Ziegler, she went to school at St. Francis and Marquette Parish Schools before attending Oklahoma State University where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

At OSU, she met her lifetime love, Gene Pace and they soon married in Tulsa. In addition to raising four children, Fran became involved in many civic and political activities including those supporting peace, libraries, social justice, and education. She was a part of the parent group that was responsible for the creation of the magnet schools in Tulsa and was an active member of the Tulsa Democratic Party. She served on the Tulsa Metropolitan Area Planning Commission, where she was a strong advocate for neighborhood preservation.

Fran loved gardening, home decorating, cooking, bird-watching, and boating. Fran and Gene built one of the first houses on Skiatook Lake where they enjoyed much time with family and friends. Her favorite times were those when her children and grandchildren would join them at "the lake house", but she loved spending time anywhere with her grandchildren.

Fran was preceded in death by her husband Gene, granddaughter Karen Dawn Pace, and brothers Jack, Bill, Dan and Tom. She will be greatly missed by many friends and is survived by her sister Mary Ziegler, brother Jim Ziegler, daughters Tracy (David) Hull and Janice (Joe) Podpechan, sons Greg and Jeff Pace, grandchildren Joe, Michael, and Annie Hull, Ben and Alex Herrmann, Sarah and Will Podpechan, and great-granddaughters Josie, Ellie and Lexie Hull and Chloe Herrmann.
