Obituary

Frances Bohan Green Schultz was born to Frank and Emily Bohan on November 8, 1933. She was surrounded by her family when she went home to the Lord on October 12. Frances graduated from Holy Family High School and then went on to attend Tulsa University. The passions of her life were her faith, her career at Utica Bank, her cats, and most importantly, her family. She is survived by her children Michael Green (Andrea), Karen Moll (Rich), Robert Green(Joey), 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son David Green, brother Bill Bohan and her husband Sheldon. A rosary will be held on October 17 at 7 p.m. and a mass given on October 18 at 10:00 a.m.with a reception to follow. All services and the reception will be at Holy Family Church in downtown Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Tristesse Grief Center or for masses at Holy Family Catholic Church; both of Tulsa Oklahoma.

Frances worked for Utica Bank for over 25 years. She worked primarily in the safe- keeping area and her customers and coworkers were like an extended family. She often talked about how much she loved her job and her customers. She liked taking care of them because that was the type of person she was. She just wanted to help others. She was also the "train engineer" at the bank, where she made sure that the model train kept running and was on the tracks. In addition to her banking career, Frances volunteered at the Tristesse Grief Center in Tulsa and at St. John's Hospital. She loved caring for people and for many years greatly improved the lives of others. Her brother Bill Bohan needed extra help in life and she provided that help for many years until Bill passed away in 2013.

And then there were her animals. Oh how she loved them, and there were a lot to love. Cats were her favorite, but there was almost always a dog or two around the house. There was Misty the hyper Sheltie, and Duchess, the fat cocker spaniel that came from her mother, and many others. But the cats ruled the roost. So much so that Frances was known as the cat lady to many. It was reflected in the clothes she wore like leopard prints, or her dozens of sweaters and jackets that featured cats. No one could pull off leopard Frances. Her home was loaded with cat pictures, cat plates, cat clocks, cat decorations and, well, you get the idea. There was Fluffy, Sassy, and Chip to name a few. But the most memorable was the feisty Tesse that was with Frances until just a year ago. She was a bossy cat that could only be handled by Frances. Anyone else risked being scratched or worse.

But most important to Frances was her family. She loved watching her children grow and having fun together. There was the family vacations to Colorado and Gulf Shores, and the picnics that all of the kids remember well. One of her more recent treasured memories (she called it the best trip ever) was in 2010 when she and her four children went to Destin Florida. With a condo on the beach, Frances would sit on the balcony, sip a margarita and often take a short nap as she watched her kids and their spouses on the beach. Then she would venture down to the water to at least get her feet wet. She never learned to swim, but she loved going to the beach. She also wanted to keep up with the latest trends so one afternoon in Destin, she got a Hello-Kitty tattoo. Now this was only a temporary tattoo, but she was so excited about it and would tell others about it for years.

David, her oldest son, held a special place in her heart. She admired David's ability to fix or build anything, and would always have David come over to fix things at her house. She and David were both caregiver-type people so they always wanted to help others. For several years later in David's life, David lived with Frances and they took care of each other. It was a love-hate relationship because each of them thought they were in charge of taking care of the other. But it worked, and ended up bringing them even closer together. When David passed away in 2014 it broke her heart and she never got over that loss. It was a comfort that she could share her love with David's kids and her grandchildren, Jennifer and Jordan. She was a major part of their lives and was so proud of both of them.

Mike was the second child. Frances was very proud of Mike because he is a lawyer. She wouldn't hesitate to tell others that her son was an attorney and that he even starred in his own TV commercials. She loved to see his adds on TV and really thought he had joined the Hollywood elite. Mike remembers the time when he was 12 years old and he and his buddies decided they were going to have a "smoking party". They wanted to see what it was like to smoke since most everybody else did. Well Frances came out and caught them, and thought they should have the full experience. She had them keep smoking until they had finished the pack. To this day, Mike has never smoked cigarettes again. There was also the time when Mike hid in the dryer to scare his mother. That probably worked a little too well and once again, Mike got in trouble. Mike's son Nick was another one of the grandkids she loved so much. She was so proud when he joined the navy and went off to serve his country.

And then there was Karen; the only daughter. Karen and her mother had a special bond that only mothers and daughters do. She was so proud of Karen. She loved to see her performing as Miss Tornado for Tulsa University. At the age of 6, Karen twirled batons, including the flaming ones, for 2 seasons of TU football games. Frances and Karen even traveled to the Blue Bonnet Bowl in Ohio. Frances was so proud of this and loved to look at the old pictures of Karen in her Miss Tornado uniform. Frances later played a very significant role in the life of Katie and Emily. Whether it was staying all night or just talking about life's challenges, she was always there for the grandkids. When Frances moved to Dallas for 6 years, Karen and her mom became even closer. Frances loved the numerous visits they had each week to run errands, go to doctors appointments, have lunch together, or just talk. In Frances' last few days, she talked in her sleep about a recent lunch they had together in Tulsa where they had pepperoni pizza and they "ate the whole thing".

And finally, there is Bobby; the baby of the family. To Frances, he was always her little boy. Even in the last few days, she referred to him as my baby boy. As a little boy, Bobby remembers how his mom taught him to make things like party mix and bubble bread. Later in life, when Frances would come to Bobby's house for the holidays, he would make bubble bread just as he had learned sometimes assisted by Allison and Spencer, his 2 kids. But Frances would tell him that it just wasn't quite right. Then she would show them all how to fix it. Bobby talked about what a major role his mother played in Allison and Spencer's lives. She loved them so much. She was there when Allison graduated from high school in 2019 and was so proud to see Spencer become an Eagle Scout.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, Frances has 11 great-grandchildren. She also played a special role in each of their lives. Every part of her family was so important and she always had time for all of them.

Now, as Frances reunites with her mom and dad, her son David, her brother Bill and many others, we take comfort in knowing that goodbyes are not forever. Whether known as Frances, the cat lady, Mother or Nana, she played an important role in the lives of so many and will be greatly missed by all of us.

A rosary will be held on October 17 at 7 p.m. and a mass given on October 18 at 10:00 a.m., with a reception to follow. All services and the reception will be at Holy Family Cathedral in downtown Tulsa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Tristesse Grief Center or for masses at Holy Family Cathedral, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
