Francis Angus Murphy entered eternal life on August 1, 2015. He was born in Tulsa on July 1, 1926 to Arthur Joseph and Ruth Davidson Murphy. Francis attended St. Francis School and Marquette High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and kept the main radio base in the western Pacific operating. He returned to Tulsa and enrolled at the University of Tulsa. He married the love of his life, Mildred Haubert in 1949.
Francis is survived by his beloved family: wife, Mildred; eight of his children, Martha (Rob) Lamm, Judy (Mark) Givens, Bill (Jolene) Murphy, Janice Murphy, Betty (Joe) O'Connor, Nancy (Kevin) McMillan, Joyce (Jim) Powers, and John (Shannon) Murphy; siblings, Arthur J. Murphy, Jr., Marian O'Brien, and John A. Murphy; 31 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Kay McLaughlin, Florence Smith, Helen Murphy, and many nieces and nephews. He joins his daughter, Mary Lou; sister, Margaret Enright; and many family members and friends in eternal life.
Francis enjoyed a thirty-one year career at American Airlines. Long-time parishioners of Christ the King Church, Francis and Milly volunteered for many years as Meals on Wheels drivers and members of the weekly church cleaning crew.
Francis leaves a big family who greatly loves him and aspires to follow his example of faith, integrity, generosity, and joy in life.
