Frank Grahlman, 80, passed from this life on Monday, July 15 at Hillcrest Hospital in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was born in Omak, Washington on October 6, 1932 to Frank and Mabel Grahlman. A graduate of Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale, Washington; and after serving in the United States Navy, he received a Bachelors of Arts degree and a Masters degree in Education from Eastern Washington State College in 1961. After teaching and school administration positions in Washington and California, he and his wife, Dixie, moved to Stillwater where he earned his Ph.D in Education from Oklahoma State University in 1975. Following his graduation from OSU, he embarked on his new career of preparing subsequent generations of new teachers in his position as Assistant Professor in Educational Leadership at the University of Tulsa. He completed his career as an educator, retiring from Union Public Schools in 1995. Upon retirement, Bill and Dixie moved to Jenks where he held positions of leadership in Leadership Jenks and the Master Gardener program in Tulsa. Bill also enjoyed writing short stories, as well as professional papers which he
distributed to friends and family for their enjoyment.
Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dixie, of the home in Jenks; a son, Richard, of Monterrey, California four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol, of Duvall, Washington. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mabel Grahlman; his daughter, Debbie, and his sister, Betty.
Private family services will be conducted on Friday, July 19, followed by a memorial service held Saturday, July 20, at 10:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home Southwood Colonial Chapel, 3612 E. 91st Street South, Tulsa. The family invites Bift's friends and former students to a viewing Thursday, July 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Tulsa Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to thank the staff and personnel of the Veteran's Hospital in Claremore for their diligent care and support during Bill's longest day.
