Fred Beasley was born on the Sand Springs line to Marvin and Lauredo Beasley on August 12, 1941. He attended pretty much every elementary and junior high school between Sand Springs and Tulsa until he finally landed at Will Rogers High School where he played saxophone, was the drum major of the high school band and appeared in numerous shows with the theater department. After high school, he attended the University of Oklahoma where he was a member of the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band.
After one year at OU, Fred transferred to the University of Tulsa where he majored in petroleum land management, was the drum major, and loved going to football and basketball games. At TU, Fred was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity - which just so happened to be across from the Chi Omega sorority house. It was there he met the love of his life, Paula Capps.
Fred married Paula and after graduation began a long and successful career in commercial property management. Over the years, Fred worked at a number of Tulsa's most prominent companies, including Helmerich & Payne and Williams, where he managed some of the city's most iconic properties, including Utica Square Shopping Center and the BOK (formerly Williams) building. Fred and Paula had three sons and their young family joined First United Methodist Church which has been Fred and Paula's spiritual home for the last 50 years. They were beloved leaders in the FMC Youth Department, leading numerous teams on mission trips in Mexico, and Fred served as the President of the Builders Sunday School Class.
A pillar of the Tulsa real-estate community, Fred was a Paul Harris Fellow and President of his Rotary Club, President of BOMA, and President of IREM, but also dedicated himself to the Tulsa community, including as a member of numerous community boards. For 15 years he coached Junior High football and basketball at Edison Junior High School and spent 25 years as a high school Football Official in the Greater Tulsa Officials Association. Many of the young men he coached continued to view him as a mentor and friend throughout his life.
To Fred, the most important thing in the world was his family. With 60 wonderful years together, Fred and Paula raised 3 young men - Brent (Cindy), Scott (Polly), and Todd (Joli) - who are carrying on his legacy of "Family First" with 8 grandchildren, Andrew, Josh (Katy), Bridgette (Dewey), Rhett (Allie), Luke (Mary Beth), Catherine, Anna Kate, and Zach, and 2 great-grandchildren, Brooks and Aaron, (with the 3rd on the way). Fred passed away on December 3, 2023, at the age of 82 and will be remembered for his kindness, strength, faith, and boundless love. He is preceded in death by his sister Jeanne Tramel, and his parents Marvin and Lauredo.
A memorial service to honor Fred's life will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 1 pm at First Methodist Church in Tulsa, OK. Visitation will be 4-5 pm Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Fred's name either to the First Methodist Church Memorial Fund or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
