Frimi was born in Hornell, NY in 1929 and raised in Scranton, PA.  Frimi attended Beaver College (PA), Marywood College (PA), and the University of Tulsa. She received a B.A. in Education and a M.A. in Special Education.

She married Gerson Apt in 1950 and together they resided in Scranton, PA. They had three children, Andrea, Debbye and Ira. The family moved to Tulsa in 1964.

Frimi was a very active volunteer in the Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary in Wilkes-Barre PA. In Oklahoma, she was very active in community organizations including the Panel of American Women. Frimi was a teacher all of her life. She taught at B'Nai Emunah Synagogue, Temple Israel, and in The Tulsa Public Schools, along with mentoring many students. She was a docent at the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art.

She moved to the Tulsa Jewish Retirement and Health Care Center in May 2002.

Frimi is preceded in death by: her husband, Gerson Apt; her parents, Rose and Isadore Alamar; her sister and brother-in-law, Blossom and Sidney Oram.

She is survived by: her brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Naomi Alamar of Scranton; her daughters, Andrea and husband Mike Myers, of Tulsa, and Rabbi Debbye Zanerhaft, of Sacramento CA; son Ira and wife Shelley Apt, of Cushing; grandchildren, Rabbi Deborah Kahn-Harris and husband Keith Harris, of London, England,  Jaron Zanerhaft, of Berkeley CA,  Ryan and Candice Apt, of Charlotte, NC, David Apt of Cushing, Emily and Ryan Owens, of Tulsa, and Garrett Apt, of Cushing; and great grandchildren, Kobi and Ella, of London, England.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

She will also be remembered fondly by students of all ages.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to: The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges, Tulsa; or to: the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art or Tulsa Jewish Retirement and Health Care Center.

Graveside Service will be Thursday, January 12th, 11 AM, at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery (New B'nai Section).
