Our beloved father, grandfather and husband, George Dale Blue, passed away Friday August 29, 2014. George attended Central High School in Tulsa, where he met Elizabeth Anne (Betty Bishop), whom he married soon after graduation.
George and Betty lived in Munich, Germany, during George's Army service. They returned to Tulsa, where their daughters Rachel and Roxanne were born. For many years, George worked as a salesman for Allen's TV & Appliances, often appearing in their television commercials. He followed that career at AI Honda and was remembered by many Tulsans for selling them their first cars. His final career, and the one he most enjoyed, was at Southwest Airlines, where he worked both on the ramp and then as a flight attendant. Though he called himself "the old guy", he loved what he did for Southwest, and it showed. He was the recipient of the President's Award, a true honor at the airline, and the recipient of multiple "flight attendant of the month" awards.
George enjoyed many hobbies. An avid bicyclist even into his 70's, he also enjoyed running, shooting skeet, golf, karate and even skydiving. His family remembers him as funny, kind, and fiercely protective.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Elizabeth, his daughter Rachel Blue, her husband Tom Vincent and his grandson Henderson Blue Vincent; his daughter Roxanne Blue Libasci and her husband Todd Libasci, his grandson Alex Fleetwood; and his brother Gary Hood.
A memorial service will be held at Fitzgerald's Ivy Chapel, 1402 S. Boulder Avenue, on Thursday, September 4th, at 10 a.m., officiated by Msgr. Daniel Mueggenborg. A reception will follow at the home of his daughter Rachel Blue, 230 E. 20th St., Tulsa.
