Dr. George H. Bussman, garden-lover, book collector, joke teller, world traveler, and beloved Tulsa Dentist for 53 years, died on November 28th, 2015. Born in Tulsa, January 11th, 1928, "Dr. B," loved Koi ponds, impossible dreams, the Florida Keys, Oklahoma, Bombay Sapphire martinis, crossword puzzles, sardines on saltines, orchestras, and everything Japanese! He graduated 1945 class Valedictorian from Jeffersonville High School. He joined the U.S. Army and was sent to the University of West Virginia and the University of Minnesota to be a Japanese interpreter. After WWII, he was called into the Korean Conflict serving as a 2nd Lieutenant, Infantry. After his service to our country he met the love of his life, Dorothy Louise Johnson. They married January 23rd, 1953 savoring 54 years together until Dorothy's passing. George attended the University of Tulsa and University of St. Louis Dental School. After graduating he began his Tulsa practice and they lovingly raised 5 children: Heidi Bussman Ferrell (husband Bill) of Florida, Dr. Chris Bussman, DDS (wife Sarah) of Tulsa, Hans Bussman of Tulsa, Dr. Kurt v. Bussman, MD (wife Joanna) of England and Karen Bussman Miller (husband Mike) of Vinita. His legacy of 7 grandchildren include: Drew and Jennifer Bussman Reimers, Matthew and Justin Allert, William Dylan Ferrell, Max and Hugo v. Bussman. The legacy also includes nephew, Mike Elliot of Arkansas. A terrific baritone, George sang in the Tulsa Oratorio Chorus with Dorothy, and was a soloist in the First Lutheran Church Choir and Messiah Presentations. A military salute burial will take place Friday, December 4th at 9:30am, Rosehill Cemetery, a memorial service follows at Grace Lutheran Church at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
