George Kennedy Miller
July 31, 1936 - February 21, 2024
George was born July 31, 1936, one of five children born to Georgiana and Raymond A. Miller in Chicago, IL, and spent his elementary years in Long Island, NY. He graduated from Cascia Hall in 1954 and from the University of Notre Dame in 1958, with a degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the Air Force for three years before marrying Kathleen Flynn in October 1960, whom he met while she was in nursing school at Holy Cross in South Bend, IN. George had a successful 50-year career as a stockbroker in Tulsa and retired from UBS in 2016.
George is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Raymond A. Miller Jr. and sister Sheila M. Bradley. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathy (Flynn) Miller, daughter Stacey Yusko (Mark Yusko), sons Greg Miller, Matt Miller (Sarah Hartmeyer), David Miller (Darci Davis) and Mike Miller (Cara Cupps). George was blessed with 13 grandchildren: Sara Madden (John), Jack Yusko (Margaret) and Will Yusko; Jacob Miller (Macy) and Braeden Miller (Alia); Ben Miller, Thomas Miller and Ellie Miller; Madeline Calder (Holt) and Emma Miller; Ashby Miller, Will Miller and Tess Miller. He also has 8 great grandchildren: Milly, John and Caroline Madden; Londyn Bride and Logan Miller; Beckham and Mila Miller; and Arthur Calder. He is also survived by his brother John F. Miller and sister Mary V. Miller.
George was a gentle man, a man of faith, a devoted husband and father who enjoyed all things family. He coached his children in various elementary sports and crisscrossed the city and state to watch his grandchildren's sports and dance recitals every weekend. In Pop's eyes, each of his kids was "the best".
As everyone knows, George had a great love for Notre Dame and was an avid (some would say rabid) supporter of the football program. The family spent many fall weekends on campus, eating steak sandwiches, watching the Irish Guard and throwing the football on South Quad.
George had a quiet but deep devotion to his Catholic faith. He was a true gentleman and a role model of integrity. With George you always knew where you stood. He leaves a lasting legacy in the cabin he built with his children and grandchildren where they spent years fishing, exploring, four wheeling and learning to drive the Jeep.
The family is grateful for the excellent care given by Miller Hospice and Cornerstone Caregiving.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the RISE Program at Marquette Catholic School or the Blessed Stanley Rother Academic Support Program at Bishop Kelley High School.
Rosary Service will be Monday, February 26, 2024 at 7 PM and Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, February 27th, 11 AM, both at Christ the King Church, 16th and Quincy, in Tulsa. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Tulsa.
