Obituary

It is with extreme sadness but the blessed assurance of his Heavenly reward that we announce the passing of Gerald Mark Kollmorgen ("Mark" as he was known by his family and friends). Mark was born on June 23, 1932, near Bancroft, NE. Mark passed away on September 5, 2022, in Tulsa, OK at the age of 90.
Mark is survived by his high school sweetheart and devoted wife Jeanne, who he married on December 19, 1954; his four children and their spouses, Steve (wife Mary), Linda (husband Steve), Nancy (husband Sammy), and Terry (wife Susan); nine grandchildren, Mark (wife Rachael), Lauren (husband Eric), Chelsea (husband Justin), David (wife Megan), Michael (wife Brianne), Sawyer (wife Miranda), Scott, Rachel (husband Kevin), and Christine; eight great-grandchildren, Elliot, Collins, Hallie, Marshall, Bennett, Tatum, Adelaide, and Madeline; siblings Ardyce Bartels, Robert Kollmorgen, JoAnn Henningsen (husband John), sisters-in-law Mary Ann Kollmorgen and Joann Kollmorgen, and brother-in-law Richard Bossow. Proceeding him in passing are his father Arthur, mother Dorathea, brothers Walter and Kay, sister Sharon, brother-in-law Harry Bartels, and sister-in-law Marilyn Kollmorgen.
Mark received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Iowa State University and a PhD from the University of Iowa. He started his cancer research at the Argonne National Laboratory outside of Chicago, but spent the bulk of his professional career at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City, OK. After Mark retired from his scientific profession, he flourished in his second career as a financial planner. In addition to being a devout Christian, loving husband, caring father, and a doting grandfather and great-grandfather, Mark was deeply involved in church activities and choir, and as well as an avid sports fan, especially of the Oklahoma Sooners.
Perhaps the best commentary on Mark's life is contained in the concluding paragraph he penned himself more than 30 years ago for his part in the Kollmorgen Family History: "In summary, I am grateful for the family, the friends, the opportunities and the environment that life has furnished, Time has sent us along our separate ways to pursue our interests, realize our dreams, and exploit our talents. Someday, we will all be together again. As great-grandfather Kollmorgen reminds us, we are all strangers here. Heaven is our home!"

Funeral services will be held on September 14, 2022 at 11:00 am at Fellowship Lutheran Church, 6727 S. Sheridan Rd, Tulsa, OK. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Fitzgerald Funeral Services. Prior to the funeral services, there will be a private interment of Mark at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Fellowship Lutheran Church Piano fund.
