Dr. Gerald Neal Plost, 57, passed away on October 27, 2010 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Jerry was born on September 15, 1953 in Tulsa Oklahoma to Herbert and Phyllis Plost. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1971. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma and earned his M.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. While in medical school, Jerry married Debra Lubin on December 19, 1976. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Texas at Houston and his Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at the University of Arizona. Jerry worked at St. John Medical Center for over 25 years where he proudly served as the Medical Director of Adult Critical Care. In 2009, Jerry was honored to be named a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine.

Jerry's passion for life extended beyond the hospital. He was an avid fly fisherman who looked forward to his yearly trip to the 4UR Ranch in Colorado. His curiosity fueled his creativity as an inventor. Jerry liked to garden and took pride in his designs. He was a self-taught piano player who relaxed by playing the music of Elton John, The Eagles and The Beatles. He was a loyal Sooner fan who enjoyed attending the games with his sons. His original sense of humor livened any gathering. Most importantly of all, he was a devoted husband and family man.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Debra, his sons, Zach, Sam, Grant and Clark, his parents, Herbert and Phyllis, and his siblings, Hildy and Randy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John Medical Foundation-Adult ICU in his honor.

A Funeral Service will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2010 at
Temple Israel. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
