Obituary

Gertrude McKee LoVoi passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010 in Tulsa, OK. She was born in Enid, OK, on March 30, 1922, to Charles and Estelle (Larrieu) McKee. Her father was transferred to Tulsa, OK one year later and she always considered herself a native Tulsan. Gertrude attended Marquette High School and the University of Tulsa where she received a business certification. She was office manager and a secretary to the Commanding Officer of the Air Materiel Command at Douglas Aircraft Company in Tulsa during World War II. She married her husband, Paul Sarino Lovoi, in 1950, and had five children: Annette LoVoi (Jim Marston), Donna Lovoi Hart, Paula Murphy (Mike), Vincent LoVoi and Gerald Lovoi (Susan) and eleven loving grandchildren: Manda Marston; Erin and Ben Hart; Sean and Brian Murphy; Annie, Joey, Rosie and Tommy LoVoi; and Paige and Olivia Lovoi. She is survived by her siblings: Calvin McKee (Patti), Marjorie Kelley (John), Tom McKee (Annetta), Nancy McKee, Patrick McKee (Sally) and Mae Brandenburg. She was preceded in death by her husband after 55 years of marriage. She served as president of the Tulsa Boys Home, the C.P.A. Wives Club, St. Mary's Women's Club and on the school boards of the schools her children attended. She also served on the Eastern Oklahoma Diocesan Foundation Board and on the United Way Budget Committee for several years. She and Paul were founding members of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she served on the Parish Council and where her five children attended elementary school. She enjoyed many family gatherings in Tulsa, Fort Smith, Louisiana and Italy and enjoyed traveling with her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to: Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma, 2450 N. Harvard, Tulsa, OK 74115. Evening prayer service 7:00pm Tuesday, June 15, 2010 and Mass of Christian Burial 10:00am Wednesday, June 16, 2010 both at Church of St. Mary, 1347 E. 49th Pl.
