Gertrude Ann Moragne, 83, of Tulsa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 16, 2018 with her loving son, John, by her side. Visitation will be held from 1 – 3 PM, on Thursday, with a funeral service at 1 PM on Friday, both at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel.
Gertrude was born on June 30, 1934, in Sapulpa, OK, the daughter of Albert and Blanche (Henderson) Edwards. On March 26, 1954, she married John L. Moragne, the love of her life, at the First Baptist Church in Sapulpa, OK. They shared 58 wonderful years together as man and wife, up until his death in 2013.
Gertrude was very active throughout her life with many organizations and her community. She was a Den Mother in the Cub Scouts and was active in the Patrick Henry Elementary PTA serving in many capacities including president. Gertrude was also a member and served as president of the local chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, an international service and leadership organization. She actively participated with the Patrick Henry Elementary School Foundation, which provided support and funding to select school programs. The Tulsa Edison "Screaming Eagle" Jazz Band also benefited from her involvement.
Gertrude's work history centered around the insurance industry to include the Siegfried Insurance Company and later the Williams Companies where she served in the capacity of claims adjuster.
The game of bridge was a favorite pastime of hers. Rarely a week went by that she did not play at least several times with various "bridge clubs".
Her greatest joy and sense of accomplishment was found in being a wonderful and beautiful wife, Mother and meticulous homemaker.
One of her last quotes to her Son was "It's been a good ride!" Amen Gertrude, it certainly has.
She is survived by her son, John E. Moragne, MD, and his fiancé, Ms. Teri Hefner, of Sugar Land, TX, two grandsons, John Michael and Christopher Bryan Moragne, both of Houston, TX; sister, Winifred "Winnie" Moffitt, Muskogee, OK; nieces, Donna Moffitt-Hearon, Muskogee, OK, and Sherry Moffitt- Bush, of Perkins, OK, and other extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and beloved husband, John.Memorial donations may be made in Gertrude's name to The American Lung Association, 730 W. Wilshire Blvd, Suite 105, Oklahoma City, OK 73120.
