Gesina Joan Clarkson Luschen, age 79, passed away in Tulsa on January 24, 2015.  Joan was born in Tulsa on July 25, 1935 to the late Gesina (Schepers) and Thomas H. Clarkson.  At an early age, Joan's family moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma.  Upon her mother's death, Joan went to live with Margaret and Charles Unzner, her mother's sister and her husband, and their children Charles, Marie and Teresa.

After graduating from St. Benedict High School, Joan entered Mercy School of Nursing in Oklahoma City.  She completed nursing school and received the second highest score on the state board exam in her group.  Joan entered the work force at Mercy Hospital, where she remained for a number of years. She then worked as campus nurse for Oklahoma City University until her retirement, due to poor health.

Joan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Loren F. Luschen; four children, James (and Sherri) Luschen of OKC, Father Timothy Luschen of Bethany, OK, Laura Gesina Luschen, John (and Donna) Luschen of Tulsa; grandchildren Benjamin, Luke and Emily Luschen of OKC and Christopher and Nicholas Luschen of Tulsa; sisters Marie Unzner Hillerman of Albuquerque, NM, and Teresa Unzner Sifford of Jonesboro, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; aunt Margaret (and uncle Charles) Unzner; brother Charles F. Unzner; two sisters, Yvonne Clarkson and Peggy Clarkson Meaney; and four brothers, Jerome, Thomas L., Paul, and Robert Clarkson.

There will be a Rosary at 7 PM, Thursday, January 29th and Funeral Mass at 10 AM, Friday, January 30th, both at Christ the King Church, Tulsa.  Donations may be made to RISE Program or Meals on Wheels, Christ the King Church, 1520 S. Rockford, Tulsa, OK  74120.  The family wishes to thank the Good Shepherd Hospice and the staff at Grace Living Center, Jenks, OK.
