Gladys Norma Terrell, a much beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2017 surrounded by the love of her family. She was 82 years old. Gladys was born on June 2, 1934 in Prague, OK. She graduated with honors from Prague High School in 1952, then graduated from nurses training in Oklahoma City at St. Anthony's Hospital, where she began her 45-year registered nursing career that concluded with her retirement from Tulsa St. John's Hospital.
Gladys was an officer of the Coronado Club in Oklahoma City and of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Council 4721. She was a member of the Bishop Kelley Booster Club and Madalene Parish; coordinator of many American Red Cross blood drives; volunteer at Catholic Charities; Tulsa Run participant, and proud Czech.
She was preceded in death by: her loving husband of 44 years, Ed; parents, Mary and Frank Kubicek; brothers, Oscar, Ludvik, Rudolph and Albert Kubicek; and sisters, Alma Southard and Helen Kubicek. She is survived by: children, Mary, Mike (Laura), and Katie Schofield (Scott), all of Tulsa; many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Autumn Leaves of Tulsa and University Village for their loving and attentive care of Gladys during her final years, along with the staff of Transitions LifeCare Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer's Association, American Red Cross and Tulsa Catholic Charities.
A viewing will be held at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 14th and South Boulder Avenue, on Wednesday, March 15 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Prayer Service and Rosary will be said on Wednesday, March 15 at 7:00 pm and the Funeral Mass on Thursday, March 16 at 10:00 am, both at the Church of the Madalene, 3188 East 22nd Street, Tulsa.
