Glenn J. Gorski
January 20, 1961 - December 30, 2017
Glenn Joseph Gorski was born in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur J. and Sophie Gorski on January 20, 1961, while newly elected President John F. Kennedy was making his inaugural address. This auspicious beginning was just a point of departure for a life that would impact many.
After his education was completed, Glenn began working as a train conductor at the Brookfield Zoo in suburban Chicago. This job involved describing the various animals and their habitats as the train passed by. He thoroughly enjoyed entertaining the passengers and remembered many of the scripted narratives years later.
Glenn always had a love for cars. Another of his early jobs was as a chauffeur for a maintenance company in Chicago. This experience led to a stint as a limousine driver, which meant driving many celebrity visitors to their hotels and events, and hopefully a few big tips along the way.
After that, Glenn worked at United Stationers Company in Chicago, a large wholesale distributor of office supplies for small business resellers. This position led to an opportunity to relocate within the company to the Dallas - Fort Worth area to help open a new office there.
While enjoying live in Texas, Glenn's father Arthur passed away in Tulsa. It soon became apparent to the family that his mother would not do well alone. Glenn resigned his position with United Stationers and moved to Tulsa to care for her for many years.
During this time, Glenn rekindled his love of the automobile by opening a car sales business in Tulsa. After several successful years, his mother required more and more of his attention, so he sold the business to become her full-time caregiver. Glenn was a steadfast companion to his mother for the rest of her days.
Glenn was ultimately a people person. He was a true friend to many whose lives were touched by his humor and outgoing nature. He had a story for every occasion and took pleasure in entertaining with his anecdotes.
He liked to sing, loved 1970's inspired rock and roll music, and even enjoyed time on the lake. He loved his doberman named "Boogie" and later in his life, a cat named "Billy."
Glenn appreciated the value in all life. He leaves a void in the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur J. Gorski and Sophie Gorski. He is survived by his brother, Arthur M. Gorski (Mary Ann) of Prescott, Arizona, and his sister Diana H. Millspaugh (James) of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also survived by a nephew, Andrew Millspaugh (Laura) and a niece, Alicia Millspaugh, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also survived by Andrew and Laura's children, who were a source of great joy.
