Glenn Elzy Leak passed from this life on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the
age of 92 in Oklahoma City, OK. Glenn was born in Lincoln County outside
of Sparks, OK to John Elzy and Zuna Mae (Collins) Leak on August 31,
1923. Reared on his Grandmother's farm in Wilzetta outside of Prague, OK,
Glenn loved living and hunting on the farm. Glenn played football in high school and graduated with the Class of 1941 from Prague High School.
He proudly served his country during World War II, but not before
marrying Lillie Mizera of Prague on April 4, 1944 in Shreveport, LA , just
prior to shipping out from Fort Polk. Glenn volunteered to be a
paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division in the Pacific theater. He saw
action from New Guinea to the Philippines and ultimately Japan. He was
involved in house to house fighting in the liberation of Manila, but very
humble about his service. Glenn was proud to be part of the famous
mission to liberate the Los Banos internment camp in the Philippines on
February 23, 1945 that freed 2,100 P.O.W.'s being held behind enemy lines.
After the war, Glenn and Lillie started a life in Tulsa and raised four sons.
They were married for 56 years until Lillie's death in 2000.
Glenn worked the majority of his adult life in the construction business as a
Cement Mason and in later years served as both secretary and business
agent of Local 690 and was a member of that union for over 50 years.
Glenn loved dogs and there was never a time when there wasn't a dog in his
life. So much so, that he couldn't turn away a stray and would end up with
several that he loved to care for. In his later years, Glenn reconnected with Juanita Hill, who he went to school and graduated with in Prague and they were married on October 15, 2005 in Meeker, OK and made their home there. They were blessed to have 10 wonderful years of marriage together where Glenn felt back at home in the Lincoln County wind.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Juanita; sons Darrell Leak and wife Michelle,
of Owasso, OK; Gary Leak of Tulsa, OK; David Leak of Tulsa, OK; Rick Hill
and wife Vickie, of Meeker, OK; granddaughter, Stephanie Steely and
husband Jeremy of Owasso, OK; grandson, Jason Leak and wife Shannon
of Broken Arrow, OK; great-granddaughters, Chloe and Sophie Steely and
Ashlyn Leak. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Elzy and Mae; a baby brother; his sister, Willa Dean Leak; his first wife, Lillie; and his son, Larry. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and service 11 a.m. Friday, both at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Funeral Home in Tulsa, 918-291-3500
