Gloria Ruth Barry passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on August 25, 2021 at the age of 79. She is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren, Alexandra Hawthorn (whom she and David raised as their own child), Michael Hawthorn, Will Hawthorn, Andrea Barry, Valeria Fortes, Cassius Carter, and Josiah Lee.
Gloria was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 13, 1941. She was the beloved wife of the late David Lawrence Barry, and devoted mother to their children. Gloria was always the best dressed and most outspoken woman in any room. She was known for having the world's softest hands and a prime perfume collection. She was brilliant and loved to read and learn. She had an unmatched poker face and could beat anyone in Old Maid.
Gloria and her husband spent much of their lives traveling and spending quality time together. They ate a lot of great food during their travels, and Gloria named the chile rellenos at La Fonda in Denver as primo. Towards the end of her life, she enjoyed bonding with her two great grandsons; she certainly left a lasting memory with them.
Gloria will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is now dancing in the heavens, reunited with her husband.
A Rosary will be held Monday, 6 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass Tuesday, 10 a.m. both at Saint Clement's Catholic Church in Bixby, OK. Internment will follow the funeral mass at Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa, OK.
